Ice bank
Ice bank is a system designed to make good use if the low cost of electricity at midnight. Ice bank can supply these ice for use in other hours by turning water in an ice tank into a daytime cooler. Ice has a high latent heat of melting so that one-kilogram pf ice needs to absorb 333 kilograms of energy so ice can store significant cold
Ice bank equipment
Ice banks can be used both independently and alongside the chiller. If designed independently, it must include compressors, condensers, evaporator coils, tanks and other refrigeration system equipment. If the ice bank is designed as a chiller system, only the evaporator coil and tank will need to be used and the ice bank will use the chiller refrigeration circuit itself
The ice bank evaporator coil has sensors that interrupt the refrigerant cooling system when the ice appears to be thick. There is also an agitator to increase the heat transfer between water and ice in the ice bank tank
Different types of Pars dama Ice banks
Pre- made Ice banks
At the plant size, with a water storage tank and cooling equipment, the unit is integrated and gas charged
Coil Ice banks
Applicable to insulted cement pools or pre-made concrete metal tanks
Ice banks Modular
This new Ice bank is used in space-limited complexes to make maximum use of space to store energy. This product has a modular design that allows the number of ice storage modules to increase as the collection grows and requires more cooling, thereby increasing the capacity of the ice bank
How the ice bank works
The way the ice bank works is that the hours when electricity is cheaper are used by the refrigeration system and the refrigerant passing through the evaporator coil into the tank creates ice around the coils. During the day and hours when the cooling load is increased, the chiller water passes through the ice bank tank and contacts the ice, thereby reducing the water temperature to near zero. The water is pumped out of the tank and pumped for use
Types of ice storage systems
Indirect cooling
In this method, the lukewarm ruddy solution circulates inside the coils for use in the ventilation system process, the ruddy solution circulates inside the coil, this system indirectly melts the ice around the pipes and thus cools itself be it
Direct cooling
In this way, the lukewarm ruddy solution circulates out of the coil tubes. This cause the melting of the outcrop
Benefits of Ice bank
Less power consumption
Total initial cost less construction
Enter currency maintenance
Cheaper service and less power consumption requires less power generator volume
Other economically viable reasons include the low temperature difference for consumption, and the choice of smaller equipment depending on inputs and outputs such as pumps, pipe hazards, cooler plates
On the other hand, due to the power consumption in Iran, the cooling system can be switched off during peak times and it can also be switched off at night as it is cool to make the ice bank condenser work better
